The Upper Mustang trekking is popularly known as Mustang trek, a interesting tour to unspoiled Tibetan villages on the other side of Nepalese Himalaya bordering with Tibet. The main places of interest of Mustang trekking are ancient Tibetan villages, rare medieval Buddhist arts, the interesting culture and the unique beauty of the Himalayan desert.

Lo- Manthang is capital of the medieval settlement of Upper Mustang lies in the remote Himalayan desert behind the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. Untill1992 foreigners were not allowed to enter Upper Mustang and keep an appearance of a remote, strange and unusual land; this is the unique charms of the Mustang trek. Geographically the land is an extension of the Tibetan plateau, characterized by windy and arid valleys, eroded canyons and unique stratified rock formations. People in Upper Mustang are of Tibetan origin, migrated from Tibet centuries ago, and belong to Bhotias and Loba communities and practice Sakyapa school of Tibetan Buddhism. This is perhaps only the place to see Tibetan culture in completely undisturbed state the houses and monasteries have medieval look and unique local architecture. Mostly those are built with stone and sun baked mud bricks. Here mostly grow potatoes, barley and buck wheat and about 2’600 sq km in area and 6’500 population. Tiji festival is being the greatest religious and nature festival of their. This small medieval kingdom in the vast desert is ruled by a local king. A walled complex with the houses of local nobilities and monasteries will be one of the main attractions of your Mustang trek.

Trip Itinerary

Mustang luxury jeep tour Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m.), meet our staff then transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Patan Durbar suare and Swayambhunath Temple.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (915m. -4WD Jeep then transfers to Hotel. 200 KM.
Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Tatopani (2600m.). via Beni. 110 KM. 6/7 Hrs.
Day 05: Drive from Tatopani to Kagbeni (2,810m.) and visit Muktinath Temple (3,802m.). 5/6 Hrs.

Enter Restricted Area:
Day 06: Official formalities at check post, drive to Ghami Village (3,490m.) Via Syngbochen Pass (4200m.). 32KM.
Day 07: Drive from Ghami - Lo-Manthang Village (3,490m.). 17 KM approx.
Day 08: Day explore by Jeep to Thinkar, Kimling, Chunjung, Namdruk and Chhoser Village.
Day 09: Drive from Lo-Mangthang to Marpha Village (2670m.). 4/5 hours

Exit Restricted Area:
Day 10: Drive from Marpha to Pokhara. 6 hours
Day 11: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu then transfer to Hotel.
Day 12: Last minute, transfer to Airport for your onward journeys.

Equipment for this trip.

The following gives you a general idea of the trekking equipment and clothing needed for this trek.

This is a porter-supported trek. Two clients share one porter. We will supply you a trek duffel bag where you keep your heavy items and this bag is carried by the porter. You will need to bring your own daypack to be carried by you. In the daypack, you can put money, important documents, water bottle/bladder, camera, toiletries, sunscreen, notebook, etc.

The weight limit for the porter is 30 kg or 66 pounds. 15 kg or 33 pounds for each client. So, we recommend you to pack as carefully as you can and not exceed the weight limit. You can leave your non-trekking stuff at the locker facility in the Kathmandu hotel.

Note: Tight fitting, figure-hugging clothing such as those made with Lycra can often be offensive to locals, especially to women. If you find these items comfortable as a base layer, please pack something to wear on top of them.
